Exactly, and not only this applies. In the ITU rec. G.703/G.704, where A and u-laws are defined, there is clearly stated, that the "main" and "major" one is A-law and it is the only format acceptable on an international interconnect and any users of u-law should install approppriate recoding devices on their own costs to fulfill this requirement.

Because of the said above, I would not only delete the word, but also change the order of these two codecs.
