That would be an excellent project to work on.  If you have interests in 
this area, we could also help identify some areas that do not currently 
use astobj or astobj2, but could definitely benefit from it.

One of the existing uses of astobj is res_jabber.  Someone started 
working on this, but it's not quite finished.  I'm sure he would 
appreciate someone working with him on finishing it.  You can find his
