Coming back to David's concern about the config option:

I thought of another way. Let's create a new configuration file that is called something like "sipdevices.conf" or "malcolm.conf" or whatever (let's avoid focusing on the name).

All objects defined in "sip.conf" will follow the old ruleset. All objects declared in the <newsipconf> will follow the new ruleset.

It's way more clean and much easier to explain.
