That is the problem. If you create a loop with proxies they will detect 
it (on SIP level).

But Asterisk will terminate the SIP call. If you configure a loop in 
Asterisk there is no chance to detect it as the hop counter is set to 
the default value every time.

IMO this would also make sense for SS7<->SIP Gatewaying to translate the 
SS7 hop counter to avoid SS7-SIP-SS7-SIP-SS7 loops.
