Friends,
I just wanted to drop a note and say that things take time, but
sometimes our dreams come true,
even in this project.
A few years ago, we had a meeting in Pisa and later one in Atlanta
where we brainstormed
about a distributed event system for Asterisk. Later, Russell somehow
got grounded on an
airport and started working on it and we have the first implementation
in trunk. It's
really, really cool stuff that will take Asterisk to new areas and new
designs.
Now I see Brandon working on a way to automatically extract
documentation from the
sources. This is something I've been dreaming about ever since the
weeks many
years ago when I took all the docs in the source code and added to a
small site
called voip-info.org, and later caused Jim's ADSL connection to get
exhausted.
We've been discussing this for ages, but now Brandon in writing code.
I think
the whole asterisk-docs gang is cheering for him and propably feeding
him
whatever makes him tick - redbull, candy from Tilghman's store or just
pats on the head :-)
So even if it takes time, it is important that we meet and brainstorm
and document
our ideas and visions. Suddenly, someone get stuck on an airport,
bored at a
family party or needs something to keep them occupied during a boring
visionary presentation by a marketing guy...
These things make me happy. Open Source works.
/O
PS. No, please don't plot to get me stuck on an airport for
chan_sip3 :-)
