Note sure where to find the examples:
	chan_sip.c
	MWI_NOTIFICATION 
	application/simple-message-summary

I found this: src\voice\asterisk\appsapp_voicemail.c, not sure though.

I have never done any Asterisk development... bear with me.

Maybe they use the method from RFC 3842
(Message Summary and MWI Event Package)
