I'm not really surprised that you're still having some trouble with 1.2. 
  However, the problems are architectural issues and will not be changed 
in 1.2.  1.4 has been out for almost 5 months now, and the stability has 
been significantly improved since the initial release.  I would expect 
the 1.2 series to be officially put on security-maintenance only very soon.
