I don't know about the fix, but the menuselect stuff is definitely a 
problem for me, as well.

My process for building the trunk version has devolved into a series of 
"do this, wait for the build to break, go in and manually twiddle, 
restart and wait for the next break" actions.

Some of it is my own laziness and ignorance, I'll gladly allow.  But 
having that interactive piece that seems not to want itself fully 
automated is definitely a spanner in the works for me.
