Mark.  When the infrastructure was introduced he wanted it to
be an option that defaulted to off.  To be fair it did have
a rocky start, with a number of apps that were not happy with
the change (app_echo for one), but I believe that all known
issues have been addressed.

I have a couple of years in production with it on three
moderately loaded servers for meetme conferencing using
ztdummy, with no issues.
