These fixes are all very welcome, but keep in mind that they should _not_ be backported to the 1.4 branch. The 1.4 branch is now a 'release branch' and as such is only open for bugfixes and other important changes. Code optimizations, indentation fixes, minor performance improvements and the like are not appropriate for release branches.
