[asterisk-dev] Number of Asterisk responses returned

Top of the morning all (or afternoon/evening depending on your locale). 
Can someone tell me the following (too caught up to do a packet dump), 
how does Asterisk repond to the following:

Client sends NOTIFY (1ping, etc.) --> Asterisk
Asterisk responds with X (2 pings) -- Client

NOTIFY = How many responses does Asterisk generate
BYE "
CANCEL "
etc., etc,

Is there documentation on the amount of responses for different SIP 
types somewhere? Thanks in advance
