[Asterisk-Dev] Line status detection for Zap ifaces ( fxo )

Is there any hope for people wanting Zap ifaces to detect line status (
BUSY, CONNECT, NODIALTONE, etc ) modem-style? I'm a complete newibie to
telephone signalling so I don't know if regular PSTN modems do it in hw
and Digium cards can't do it or it's just an algorithm that can be
implemented in zaptel maybe. Real call billing over PSTN is impossible
without it. Thanks in advance
