The non-gpl license only applies to the specific module(s) that are
distributed as binary only.

Again non-gpl distribution only applies to those module(s) that have
been specifically licensed from Digium. The rest of Asterisk is still
licensed under the GPL and acquired in the same fashion (cvs, ftp, web)

This is where most people get confused (and/or upset). There is only ONE
version of Asterisk. Those that have a specific need for non-gpl usage
of specific components of Asterisk simply purchase a non-gpl license
from Digium for those specific components as necessary. In my
experience, those wanting non-gpl distribution has created something
they either cannot GPL or otherwise feel the GPL is not appropriate.
