Sun x86 (AMD-based) hardware is not more expensive than netras and far
faster, if you want to stick to Sun. Otherwise, look at servers (like Dell
18xx) with IPMI capability.

No, it isn't. Asterisk has not been designed to run in a situation where
CPU starvation is possible. Thus, it won't work well in this case.
Redesigning it is hard.

It is far harder than it looks like. And, the whole point of asterisk as a
platform is that it shouldn't be necessary.
