Uh...  You do know that "GPL" and "public domain" are two *very*  
different animals, right?  And both are different again from "BSD"  
licensed too, incidentally.

Risking another flame war, "GPL" is actually the least "free" one --  
because it does *force* you to share source if you share binary.

But due to how Asterisk itself is licensed you must either license  
any module that loads into Asterisk proper under GPL, or you must  
have a commercial license from Digium which allows you to use  
different license forms.
