A Feature Freeze is not a Bug Fix Freeze. Once you stop adding new
features, you can concentrate on ONLY fixing bugs until release
coordinator feels that the software is ready for an official "release
blessing".

Really, I don't care WHEN the next release of Asterisk is ACTUALLY
released. What I want is to be able to use it in production, and for
that I need behavour to stop changing.

I think this is because so many people are using CVS-HEAD in production
and cannot take their Asterisk down 10 time a days to try out a big fix.

If I did that I would be very quickly be "formerly employed".

At this point if you want to use a version of Asterisk based on
CVS-HEAD, that only gets bug fixes, you have to run....Asterisk Business
Edition. We are considering ABE this, because it's the only version of
Asterisk that is released, that is based on CVS-HEAD, that only gets bug
fixes.

In fact, several features like Realtime were NOT documented in ABE
because they were not considered stable enough for production use.
