I'm not a developer but i want to understand why IM
and presence do not work with my polycom ip phones .
MWI and voicemail is ok.

Even asterisk is not a proxy server is it possible to
implement those features SIMPLE ?

Does SER support SIMPLE ?

harry

from polycom :
5.2.3 SIP for Instant Messaging and Presence
Leveraging
Extensions (SIMPLE)
The phone is compatible with the Presence and Instant
Messaging features of Windows
® Messenger® and MSN® Messenger 4.7 and Windows®
Messenger® 5.0. In a
future release, support for the Presence and Instant
Message recommendations in the
SIP SIMPLE proposals will be provided:
• draft-ietf-simple-cpim-mapping-01
• draft-ietf-simple-presence-07
• draft-ietf-simple-presencelist-package-00
• draft-ietf-simple-winfo-format-02
• draft-ietf-simple-winfo-package-02
or their successors.
5.2.4 Shared Call Appearance Signaling
A shared line is an address of record managed by a
server. The server allows multiple
endpoints to register locations against the address of
record.
The phone supports shared call appearances (SCA) using
the SUBSCRIBE-NOTIFY
method in the “SIP Specific Event Notification”
framework (RFC 3265). The events
used are:
• “call-info” for call appearance state notification
• “line-seize for the phone to ask to seize the line
