Expose FAS to IP port (was Re: [Asterisk-Dev] Is there a need for a DS3 channel/driver?)

Is anybody working on, considering working on, or considered working on 
exposing FAS/NFAS PRI to an IP port?

What * configuration would accomodate such development? Two *
back-to-back connected by trunks?  What sort of line side access?
POTS or VoIP?
