[Asterisk-Dev] Echo with iaxcomm

I am trying to use IAXComm softphone on my linux PC. My Asterisk server has a T1 card and Global Crossing's T1 coming to it. The prblem is when I get a call from a PSTN line to my iaxcomm, (or iaxcomm to PSTN), there is a terrible echo on the PSTN side. As soon as you speak anything on the PSTN phone, background fills with loud hissing type sound, while surprisiningly, voice on iaxcomm side is ok.

I tried playing with different values of echocancel and echotraining but no luck. I did not mess with the default setting of codecs, hence they both are using gsm I guess.

Any suggestions on how to make it better?
