[Asterisk-Dev] autoconf in version 0.9.0?

They aren't bad at all, as long as you set them up right.  Most people
write autoconf setups as one global makefile/system and this does make
things nightmarish.  If you change that to a modular system, its not
bad at all.

I'm willing to take over the long term maintenence of this, if we are
willing to give it a try...
