Here is a patch that should fix somethings Mark pointed out in a
rejected patch I submitted before. 

First there were two spots where failures where returning -1 instead of
RESULT_FAILURE.

Second, there where three places where handle_record could exit without
freeing the silence suppression DSP. 

I'm submitting this here as my company is getting ready to start using
this functionality, and I don't want to wait for the original author of
the silence suppression to get a patch ready.
