PS1: 
I have moved this change to the 18 branch. We do not do reviews against releases, unless we are doing a point release.

Additionally this change is incomplete. We include a generated configure script for both Asterisk and menuselect so people don't need to generate their own. For Asterisk this is generated by running the "bootstrap.sh" script. The resulting configure is then included in the change.

For menuselect I've never done so, so can't comment on that one. Someone else may be able to provide guidance on that one.
