What do you think is currently missing from the patch?

Variables are already in the xml docs to some extent, but XML Docs at the end of the day aren't capable of doing some of the things this change does, such as allowing for validation of variable sets and having a more robust process for dealing with Asterisk variables in general. This help prevent people from shooting themselves in the foot to the extent possible. Everything that you could do with the xmldocs, and a lot more.
