Patch Set 2:

I'm a bit iffy on both sides. Since it's an option and not on by default I think a CHANGES entry just detailing what it does and if there's audio loss to give it a try is good enough. If you'd like to take care of then then we can get that in, otherwise if not I will get to it in a few days. Sorry for the delay as well - I've been pondering my feelings on it.
