It was only the login failure on https://www.asterisk.org/user/login that concerned me.  In fact the Jira access here is confirmation that my account has been created correctly.  For the new community member arriving at the landing pages only, there's no evidence that the above login failure is to be expected, but I can certainly understand it now & thanks for the response.
