I'm using freebsd with asterisk however is possible, because some
applications i need, have a proprietary driver can only run on linux.
An example is speech engine [1] by lumenvox.

If anyone provide a jail server or a virtualized is sufficient??

IMHO the most simple asterisk server to use is trixbox, because have
graphical interface, have easy tools that fish the user to use.
Freebsd doesn't have a official port to freepbx, other people have
ported[2]. I think if the freepbx is sucessfull compiled on Freebsd,
most people can know FreeBSD with Freepbx, and the number of users
that use can increase.
