[Asterisk-bsd] Zaptel and SMP

I'm using Zaptel on SMP,
or at least I tried to.
I'm running FreeBSD 5.4, on a triple Xeon Compaq machine. I think it was
zaptel version 0.11. Running the ztdummy module works okay, as long as you
don't stop asterisk. Then you have to restart the machine. It sometimes
crashes when I use conferencing though, and more than two IAX channels per
connection seems to have quality problems. The kernel timing selection seems
to make a difference as well. I had better luck with
kern.timecounter.hardware=ACPI-safe using sysctl
If you have any real hardware, be prepared for a crash. I installed a WCT
with one FXO port just as a timer. It all seemed to work fine, until the
next day when someone made calls over an IAX trunk and brought the whole
system down. The only thing that seemed to fix it was not loading the other
modules.
I haven't tried it with T1 interfaces, only the analog boards. All the
problems occured after I built the SMP kernel.
I would really like to see this working. I don't want to go to Linux either.
