This line of inquiry is characteristic of the unbridled zeal that people 
periodically develop for "cutting out the middleman."  The more opaque 
the cost structure, the greater their enthusiasm, for some inexplicable 
reason.

I don't think you're going to get anywhere.  Just let folks try it and 
fail on their own, once they discover the enormous, cabal-ish and 
capital-intensive undertaking that it is.
