The free ipod thing on their main page just makes me think that its

Most of those sites did give away free ipods because it was in their
best interest to do so.  They profited a couple hundred dollars for
every person (its a MLM thing, not only do you have o sign up but then
you have to get 5 friends to sign up, the combined commission was not
trivial).

Something tells me this is not quite what it seems at first glance,
maybe I will get some time and look at it later.
