Wouldn't you just need to provide the IP address then? Surely the government can't force you to record calls

On Asterisk, as far as I understand there is no physical "wire tap" - all you need is to record calls in the system!

Can anyone tell me what is involved in a wire tap on a VoIP line? Wouldn't the monitor command in the manager API work, or is it more involved than that?
Thanks,

As long as the wiretap is done on the basis of a curt order having sufficient probable cause it is no different than what government and law enforcement has been doing for years, but this new homeland security crap of doing taps without anyone in the judiciary approving it is unlawful and nobody should bend to it.

Others involved in opposing the decision fear that the cost of implementing the wiretapping capabilities may wind up being passed on to the consumer.
Unless they are producing their own currency, and I seriously doubt any CEO of a major company would take a pay cut just to implement this in the name of being a true patriot or anything.
