There's no generic issue with callerid and UK cellphones - maybe your
client has come across problems getting callerid over PSTN lines in
the UK with standard FXO hardware - there are patches and config
recipies for this. Or maybe a grey route was involved?

As someone has already posted, Magrathea Telecom for wholesale. I'd
recommend Telappliant (www.voiptalk.org) for retail volumes - they
resell Magrathea's nationwide DIDs for origination (SIP or IAX), and
have reliable and reasonably priced termination. They're
Asterisk-friendly, too.
