Perhaps the difference now is that they purchased Sipura to solve some of
the problems.

Having known Dlink and worked with their R&D Team in GOA, India for 2
months in making their SIP Phones work with Asterisk, I would not take
their equipment seriously.
I am afraid this device will meet the same fate as their other VOIP
equipment have met in the past. One of the reasons being that their SIP
Implementation is Non-Standard ( can we call it faulty) and does not
work with other Sip peers or UAs.
Dlink's Business IP Deskphone was plain garbage and their Dialup IP
Phone was pulled off the Asian markets due to user complaints and
product returns.
I havent seen their phones being officially released in US markets,
probably due to quality reasons.
But hey I will wish them good luck this time as they have a price point
most others cannot meet.

I guess it was inevitable:
http://www.dlink.com/products/?sec=2&pid=450
Dual ARM processors. Nice!
One should read closely though with regard to the statement: "Supports
25 Simultaneous Inbound/Outbound Calls"
If you read the Data Sheet it goes on to say:
"Up to 25 Extensions (5 Included)" and that "Additional extensions are
added via license codes that are obtained via your reseller or directly
from D-Link."
The D-Link brand will resonate with SOHO buyers for sure. If you want to
interface with the PSTN they suggest using their PSTN-SIP Gateway (the
DVG-3004S) in conjunction with the DVX-1000. In my mind if you want to
interface with the PSTN the DVX-1000 value proposition becomes seriously
diluted.
What do you guys (and gals) think?
Regards
