Our consulting rate is $90 an hour.
That keeps 4 of us busy between 7 and 10 hours a day.
However many of our best customers started as individuals or small companies
evaluating whether asterisk or some other solution was right for them.
We may have taken a risk with losing money with them by doing some sort of
pro bono or low pay work to help them out and in the long run it has paid
off.
I am not saying every one has to have this same philosophy but I am saying
that it can be a very sound and rewarding proposition.
We no longer look at individual jobs like "Will we make $30 or $300 dollars
from this job".
We look at clients like "Will this be a benificial relationship".
Jonathan,
More power to you. If you think you can provide a good service and you feel
you are being compensated enough then that is good business in my opinion.
Michael

For godness sake, if someone wants to help someone thats relatively new
at this for $30 let them. It dont mean that either of them are lesser
beings than the $200 / hour guys that have a tendency to put their noses
in the air.
Sure this is the Biz list, but we're also a community ffs.
