Good day dear list,
At the risk of becoming offtopic, (maybe this should be on
asterisk-users or asterisk-doc), since everyone is seeming so helpful
these dayd, what do you guys think about a PSTN/VoIP asterisk help
system.
We could use FWD (Free World Dialup) as the PSTN/VoIP infrastructure,
possibly enhancing this with donated origination from various persons on
the list with spare capacity.
It would be great if we could integrate this functionality with the
VoIP-info.org Wiki, by providing metadata for the Wiki pages
(attachments for the IVR messages). However I think a new web system
that is merely _guided_ by the Wiki would be fine as well. In any case,
we would essentially have an audio Wiki! We would be able to hear all
prompts and sounds via the website, and be able to upload new ones. All
with a revision system.
A truly interactive system would be awesome, but how could that work (on
the Wiki side)?
help: plug the phone cable into an FXO port of the TDM400 card, press 9
when you have finished.
user: 9 (DMTF)
help: ok great, now power up the computer
What would be the input interface for such a flow?
If it sounds like a good idea (read as 'people would be willing to
assist in creating the prompts, providing infrastructure and expertise,
etc.) then I'll start on a demo system.
Maybe in the future we could provide gateways to systems like
call-market.com and didx.org. Perhaps the developers of these sites
should write their code with such (voice) integration in mind.
WHY?
1. It'd be cool
2. It would showcase the power of asterisk
3. It would inspire further innovation
4. Maybe it could actually help people :)
It could, maybe they have phone but no internet
Maybe they like voice
I would be willing to perform the architecting of the system, developing
an initial version, and providing hosting for the system in the initial
stages (hopefully I will be able to do this indefinately).
So what you all think?
PS What could we call it?
Best regards,
Herman Webley
