Overview

Asterisk has, since 1.8.0, supported inbound and outbound calling through Google Voice and Google's browser-based Talk/Chat clients. And, since 1.8.0, Google's been changing the protocol. Which means Asterisk's required code changes to keep up. This has happened. Several. Times.

The trouble with all of those changes is, of course, that it takes time to figure out what's changed, and make modifications to Asterisk to support those changes.

What the Asterisk community needs is a talented and caring developer to make sure that when changes happen on the Google side, that Asterisk is updated to match.

If you think you're the person for the task, on an ongoing basis, and you're interested in free stuff, add a comment to this page introducing yourself and telling us about your involvement with Asterisk and your ability to get it done.

The free stuff? If we nominate you to take over the maintenance of Asterisk's Google channel driver, Digium will provide you with a free pass (you're on your own for hotel, food, travel, etc.) to Astricon 2011.
