However, bear in mind that the Netgear router/modem which is connected to the Internet (the Linux/Asterisk box is behind it, in a private lan) does *not* have any forwarded ports whatsoever, or DMZ setup. So it is a mystery to me how the Linux box needs ports open, while the Netgear router doesn't.<br>
