AstLinux v0.7.6
Asterisk v1.4.39.1

I have found that in some recent version of Asterisk v1.4, NVFaxDetect has started to cause segfaults on my system. I am using the following code in extensions.conf:

exten => fax,1,Hangup

[incoming] is my IAX2 trunk from my VoIP provider. Faxes used to work in the manner, but on some recent upgrade they started to produce the following errors in /var/log/messages:

Feb 21 21:24:51 pbx user.info kernel: asterisk[2457]: segfault at 8 ip 400a5625 sp 9d5fb46c error 4 in libuClibc-0.9.28.so[4006e000+44000]

My questions are the following:

Has anyone else seen similar problems with NVFaxDetect?

Can anyone offer any insight/explanation?

Is it true that Digium is sidelineing IAX2 and only focusing on SIP? Should I be looking to migrate to SIP trunks instead?
