<br>Here is a quick summary if I remember correctly:<br> - Create a peer in Asterisk for the gateway<br> - Configure the E1 on the Mediant (Provider specific)<br> - Configure the SIP proxy (Asterisk) on the Mediant<br> - Create a Trunk Group on the Mediant for the E1<br>
- Configure "IP to Trunk Group Routing" to send calls out the Trunk Group<br><br>If you have problems beyond that, contact whoever sold you the device. For the price they better offer some basic configuration support! You can also purchase support directly from AudioCodes.<br>

It is quite common to separate termination, call routing, and media for larger installations or to add some HA. Since termination is only part of the system, a better analogy might be different type of tires on the car. Sure you don't need snow tires, but you might want them when things get slick out!<br>
