<br>I am a Debian user myself and I understand the need to upgrade from etch to lenny (and to squeeze in no time).<br>Having a kernel built on purpose to remove some modules is out of line.<br><br>A better solution needs to be provided in cases like these.<br>

</div>ifconfig -a would help here. Kernel upgrades often seem to bring in new<br>
default interfaces.<br>

If this turns out to be the problem, rmmod or a custom kernel<br>
compilation may do the trick. (Of course if you've _lost_ an interface<br>
you were using under etch this may be more of a problem.)<br>
