Even the cheapest GSM gateway I found for a simple SOHO server costs<br>
over $300.<br>

If possible, I'd rather have a local solution than use a remote VoIP<br>
provider to have Asterisk make outgoing calls to the GSM network.<br>

can somehow be hooked up to a PC running Asterisk</blockquote><div><br>If a wireless hook (Bluetooth) is acceptable for you, then this must be possible with chan_mobile.<br><br>If you prefer a wire between Asterisk machine and GSM phone acting as a gateway, then I don't think it is possible (but I would be happy to be proved it's wrong).<br>
