series (parallel IDE ATA) and there<br>
are no problems using IDE ATA drives. 3ware uses hardware raid unlike<br>
the garbage promise chips that Claim hardware raid, but are not in<br>
reality.<br>

IED Raidsets on 3ware show up as scsi drives to the system.<br>
<br>
3ware is one of those rare companies that have Great linux support.<br>
<br>
You get what you pay for. The controller card may cost as much or more<br>
than the drives.<br>
<br>
Linux SATA support is still a little weak, but the performance can be<br>
much better for the higher-end SATA drives. Use of a good raid card like<br>
3ware makes Linux compatability a non-issue.<br>

I agree that software raid should be avoided.</font>
