I upgraded our Asterisk from 1.0 to 1.0.2 to re-enable IAX trunking. Since then, DTMF has stopped working for certain commercial IVR's. A SIP to PSTN call is as follows:

XTEN => SER => ASTERISK => ASTERISK => PSTN via T1

The XTEN is communicating via SIP and the Asterisk boxes are communicating via IAX. We are running G.711 end to end.

I have tried enabling dtmfmode=inband in sip.conf and also forcing the xten to use inband. Neither works singly or together. Explicitly declaring DTMF to inband was suggested by another user on this list.

I have observed that DTMF works with some IVR's, but does not work specifically with IVR's operated by AT&T.

I have verified that DTMF now fails from a Cisco 7960 and an eyebeam client following this upgrade. unfortunately, I can not run the CVS head in production, so I can not say if this exists in the CVS head. Has anyone else had this issue?

The next step for us is to engage AT&T to troubleshoot this DTMF problem. If anyone has any information or is able to reproduce this potential bug, please advise.
