Have you checked for core dumps? AFAIK, Debian packages create core
dumps on segfaults in /tmp(?). You could use that to further pin point
the issue, perhaps.
$ gdb /usr/sbin/asterisk /tmp/something.core
gdb> bt full
If it is reproducable, try recompiling Asterisk with debug symbols to
get a clearer backtrace of what happened.
