No. "LABEL=/" is correct for CentOS -- at least it is what is in my 
/boot/grub/grub.conf.

I'm sure someone more knowledgeable than me can explain the exact boot 
sequence, but "LABEL=/" is also in /etc/fstab so I suspect there is a 
relationship there.
