If all you want to do is confirm the number of rows containing a case 
number, dialplan functions will be fine.

If you want to intersperse logic and DB access, an AGI may be more 
appropriate.

Search the list archives for posts from "Tilghman Lesher." He loves doing 
EVERYTHING in dialplan :)
