[asterisk-users] not hearing dtmf tones

I have a polycom 501 phone,
when I call into the dialplan and do the following I do not hear the 
DTMF digit.

exten => 51,1,playback(invalid)
exten => 51,2,SendDTMF(1)

This is on the 1.2.23 asterisk.

I am trying to re-create calling sendDTMF in an agi and not hearing the
digit either. The above seems to re-create that without the AGI.
