That is incorrect. AsteriskNOW (actually, the AsteriskGUI) edits files in place, leaving any old information in them. This allows you to fully customize your users and dialplan without interfering with the GUI's operation.

Note that confiugration of AsteriskNow rewrites extensions.conf, and
thus an #include of an external file will not work as planned.
