Hey Chris,
As you know I'm not an Asterisk installer, but as a long time list reader from other comments I've read (and I'm only replying as Christmas eve might be a little light on traffic here) Polycom Soundpoints are the way to go.
Basically the molding/plastic dynamics along with echo control is what sets them apart....however if price is an issue do they really need a dedicated conference phone?
The regular polycom handsets are very decent when it comes to handsfree though you don't get dedicated remote mics and room acoustic control etc so if large room Sounpoints are a must.
