I call once a year unless I make a mojor dialplan change or telco change, then I call immed. after I am done.
I call 911 and tell them it is a test and I want to verify what location they see.
Then I let them know that I need to call once more (where I test 9911).
911 oper. may say to call the sheriff's dept. or other location before testing to let them know.
If that is required, they will tell you the first time you call.
Also, you should call if you change PRI/T1 vendors, since the PRI/T1 may not terminate into the local switch, so your 911 may be
going to a location 30 miles away if they didn't get the data right.

Use a trunk group if you have more that one line to the PSTN, in case line one is in use.
I think I saw a reference before that forced the line to disconnect first if it is use, but I do not have that reference.
