Which is also odd -- do you have the Asterisk logs on this (and the  
matching /var/log/messages trace?). It would be interesting to see if  
it even hits the IAXmodem at all. BTW, does "iax2 show peers" show  
the iaxmodem logged into Asterisk?

Mine are owned by root:root.
